If what you need and want is a straightforward (1) or a (1) moving to (2) on the scale then you can go ahead and book a selection of activities and structure your day for lots of fun! Remember though that if your objective is to confirm and bond a team and to motivate them as a group you should chose activities that involve the entire group rather than just the individual!
So, now we have separated out the pure ‘fun’ and ‘maintenance’ events – these can be provided for with a choice from a menu of locations and activities!
Things to take into account here are the range of abilities, capabilities and experience. There is little reward for the organisation that overloads or actually damages its teams! It is fine to challenge and stretch you staff but there are limits!
Unless you are sure you can match the people to the activities give us a call, discuss your objective and we will help choose activities that will deliver!
If your position on the first scale was an upper (2) or higher we have a little more preparation to do!
Next we need to think about what kind of ‘lifecycle’ our team has and where in the ‘lifecycle’ it is. We need to answer several questions so as to be able to select the best components to deliver your objectives...
First, how long is the lifecycle?
![]() 'Short' - Team expected to have a short lifecycle defined by a problem, project etc. ‘Long’ - Team expected to have a long lifecycle defined by nature of process or operation performed. |

This question is important as the longer a team must remain in being then the more ‘self maintaining’ it needs to be and the more it must be trained to avoid the negative effects of ‘institutionalisation’.
Where your organisation has preferred theories or concepts that it uses to underpin its work we can take those into account as we can also use and reinforce any existing total quality management or system initiatives taken by the organisation.
We are used to working with clients to change internal cultures and teambuilding can be one of the most powerful tools in support of that.
